Troubleshooting Your Television

A few years ago, we invested in a really nice flat screen television for our living room. Because we had spent a lot of money, I was surprised when it started flickering suddenly one day. After it flickered for awhile, it completely shut down, and I didn't know what to do. Since the device wasn't under warranty, I thought that we were going to have to replace the entire thing. Fortunately, a friend of mine told me about a great electronics repair center that could help. They inspected my television, told me what was wrong, and let me decide how I wanted it to be fixed. This blog is all about repairing your electronics instead of tossing them in the trash.

2 Features To Add To Your Security System

A security system is a good way of making sure that your family is safe. If you want to get a security system, there are a lot of things that you can add to it so that you can make it more complex and less likely to miss someone breaking into your house.

Motion Activated Detectors

One thing you can add on are motion activated detectors. These detectors will be tripped if anything or anyone moves in your house. They can either trigger cameras or trigger an alarm that goes to the security company you work or an audible alarm that can scare off the individual breaking into your home. Or you can choose for any combination of those things to happen all at once. If you have pets, the motion detectors can be set so that the animals don't set off the alarm.

Thermal Cameras

Another option you can add on is a thermal camera. Thermal cameras may not necessarily be the best for just a straight security system, but there are other reasons that it can be good to have a thermal camera in your security system. One reason is that it can detect the rise in temperature that accompanies a fire. The camera can be set so that it doesn't trigger any kind of alarm until it goes over the set temperature. That can get rid of the risk of the alarm being triggered because your heat comes or your air conditioner stops working and your house gets hot.

Once the thermal camera senses the rapid rise in temperature, it can set off alarms that can wake up your family and trigger the security system to contact the alarm company so that they can call the fire department. A thermal camera may be able to detect a fire before your smoke detector goes off, which will give your family the best chance possible to get out of the house safely.  Depending on how good your alarm system is and how you have it wired into the systems of your house, it may even be able to contact the fire department itself.

If you want to keep your family safe, then one way to do that is to have a security system. You can add various things into the security system so that it meets your needs as well as possible. Talk to companies like Infrared Cameras Inc. for more information about available equipment.
